What is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir photography is a niche that encompasses a wide range of styles of photography. Boudoir can mean glamorous makeup and lighting and a seductive glance. It can mean lingerie with a bit more sensuality. It can also be "implied" nudity, maybe hiding a large amount of the female form in shadow. Of course, it can also BE nudity. In any case, boudoir photography can be flavored with romance, sexiness, or just fun!
As your photographer, my job is to consider your desires. The boudoir portrait is often done for a significant other as a wedding or anniversary gift or just for funs sake. I accomplish this in a manner that is both tasteful and artistic.
Prepare for a Boudoir Portrait Session.
The first place to start is with a phone call to set up a meeting. It is imperative that I develop a mutal trust and rapport with you.
Answers to some questions you may have.
1. Is it normal to be nervous?
Everyone is nervous for a photo shoot. Even Supermodels and Celebrities. After a couple of exposures you will become more relaxed and then start having fun.
2. Can I bring someone with me?
I highly recommend you bring a close friend with you. This will help you to be comfortable. If you're not comfortable and relaxed it will show in your images. Besides, I can use your friend as an assistant or they can lend you a hand in preparing for the shoot.
3. What about my …flaws?
We all have flaws. I believe in natural images that include flaws but in most cases minor flaws can be removed to improve the images. Remember, even Supermodels have flaws.
4. Do I have to make up poses or have specific ideas on what I want?
During our meeting we will develop ideas for your session based on what you want. Having worked with aspiring and experience models posing you will be no problem.
5. Location, Location, Location. Locations are only limited to the style of portaits and images you desire. If you have a special place, perhaps at home, a lake retreat, a rental cabin, a luxurious hotel suite or the great outdoors, I have the equipment and ability to create beautiful images.
6. Do I need to bring outfits and props?
No need to bring any props unless you have something special like a Tie, Pillow, Stuffed Animal, etc.. As for clothes, please bring your own. A husband or boyfriend's thoughtful gift of lingerie, his work shirt or dress shirt and tie, or his favorite sports team jersey is usually the best outfit for a boudoir portrait.
7. Hair and Makeup. Have your hair done in a style you like and fits your personality prior to the appointed session time and wear "everyday" makeup. Be sure to bring all your makeup and lipstick, combs, brushes, etc.. in case you need to touch up.
8. How will I view my images and who has access to them?
I will show you some images as we go along and provide you with a quick preview after the session. Once the images are edited they will be uploaded (usually within 10 days), to a secure passworded website where you can proof them. You will be the only person to be able to view and order additional prints.
9. What are if any restrictions or limitations?
All clients must be 18 years old or older. I do not do boudoir photography of men, boudoir photography with animals or children, or any act that might be construed as pornographic.
10. Any last bit of advice?
Relax and have fun! The atmosphere will be light and witty and alot of fun.
